The Algontario

The Algontario was first commissioned in 1960 to transport Iron ore from Venezuela to parts of Europe. It served a brief stint in the 1970's ferrying loads of corn across lake superior. It is now used to transport Iron ore up the St. Lawrence river to parts of Quebec.

The Lost and Found Forest by Jerome McGrath & Rina Grosman
Atlantic Avenue, Toronto

Toronto artists Rina Grosman and Jerome McGrath created this forest of string, interwoven around thousands of nails inside a 40-foot long shipping container. An audio track of forest sounds could be heard while walking through the interactive multimedia presentation.

The objective was to offer viewers "a sight and sound portal to the past, to recall the trees lost in the name of urban growth."

watertable

Watertable is a pernament media sculpture that uses the architecture of the Gardiner Expressway to echo the natural condition of the site when it marked the water’s edge in the early days of the city’s history. Particularly, the lighting and audio installation creates the look and sound of lake waves based on the real time wind conditions at the site.
